David Z. Liao
M.D.Dr. David Liao earned his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering at Vanderbilt University, where he was a Cornelius Vanderbilt Scholar (full-tuition award) and graduated magna cum laude. Before medicine, he worked on various engineering projects at the National Institutes of Health: 3D printing to design imaging phantoms, programming a video game integrated incentive spirometer device, and building an exoskeleton to help rehabilitate cerebral palsy gait.
Dr. Liao attended the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and earned a Distinction in Research in Clinical Investigation for his ENT research. Dr. Liao then went on to complete a 5-year surgical residency training in Otolaryngology (ENT) / Head and Neck Surgery at Mount Sinai / New York Eye and Ear Infirmity in New York City. There he was trained by world-renowned otolaryngologists (ENTs) who were pioneers and leaders of their respective subspecialties. Training in New York City allowed Dr. Liao to experience a broad array of cultural perspectives and care for a diverse patient population.
While Dr. Liao treats patients with various ear, nose, and throat conditions, he has a particular interest in treating chronic nasal obstruction and rhinosinusitis through endoscopic sinus surgery and in-office procedures. He is passionate about helping patients achieve healthy nasal breathing and resolve their sinonasal problems.
With his background in biomedical engineering and coming from a family of engineers, Dr. Liao values attention to detail, precision, and analytical thinking in solution-finding. Dr. Liao is committed to providing cutting-edge care while helping patients safely navigate new medical innovations to provide the most evidence-based treatment. Dr. Liao’s approach to care emphasizes compassion, careful listening, and collaboration to deliver personalized care and the best possible treatment experience for each patient.
As a native of Montgomery County, Maryland, Dr. Liao is proud to join the amazing team at the Siegel, Bosworth, and Sorensen Division of CAdENT/ENT Specialty Partners and excited to come back home to the DC area. He is dedicated to caring for the same community where he grew up and holds a special place in his heart. Outside of medicine, he enjoys basketball (devoted Washington Wizards fan), fitness, food, traveling, and spending time with his wife, friends, and family.
